Family Societies Invited to Exhibit at DFAW's Fall Meeting
DFAW invites all descendants of Windsor’s early families to join us for a weekend celebrating the ideals and actions of Windsor’s Founders. Please plan to attend Founders Day Observances on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. on Palisado Green and our “Come Home to Windsor” reunion beginning Sunday, September 28 at noon at the Ellsworth Homestead. If your family society has a tie to early Windsor (Grant, Strong, etc.) and would like display space at the Sunday reunion, contact DFAW President Richard Roberts at Rroberts1861@Charter.net or 860-429-8751.
Share Your DFAW Memories at Our September 28 Reunion
As part of our “Come Home to Windsor” reunion on Sunday, September 28, we plan to have display of photographs and other memorabilia highlighting DFAW’s 25 years. Please contact DFAW president, Richard Roberts at Rroberts1861@Charter.net or 596 Gurleyville Rd., Storrs, CT 06268-1408 to let us know, for planning purposes, if you plan to bring something to display at the “memory table.” (When you bring it, be sure your name is on the item.) During our afternoon program, we’ll take time to share memories of events ranging from the recreated Trek to Windsor and Founders Day 1983, to highlights of other DFAW gatherings and tours. If you can’t attend our reunion, consider sending us a note with a memory or news to share for posting on our Message Board.

More on the Come Home to Windsor Reunion September 28, 2008
DFAW’S “COME HOME TO WINDSOR” REUNION will be held SUNDAY, September 28, noon, at the Oliver Ellsworth Homestead. Make your plans now to join “cousins” from all over the country while celebrating DFAW’s 25th Anniversary! This event will be open by pre-registration to DFAW members as well as anyone else with an interest in Ancient Windsor. There will be prizes for oldest and youngest persons present, the person coming the greatest distance, the person with the same name as a Founder, the person with the most lines to a Founder, and more! We plan to have a display of photographs and other memorabilia highlighting our 25 years and encourage you to bring something to display at our “Memory Table”. Family societies with a connection to Ancient Windsor are also invited to request exhibit space. By popular demand, we’ll have our traditional meal from Kane’s, complete with the famous squash bake.
More About the September 26 Founders Day Observance
OUR FOUNDERS DAY OBSERVANCE ON PALISADO GREEN will be held FRIDAY, September 26, beginning at 6:00 p.m. and lasting about half an hour. Bring a lawn chair if you like, and join us for a wreath-laying ceremony honoring all early Founders, including the Plymouth Meadow settlers, the “Lords and Gentlemen,” Mary and John passengers, and other early settlers, followed by a social at the Windsor Historical Society at which pizza and other light refreshments will be served. This will be a great way to meet “cousins” and enjoy a time of fellowship together as we kick off a weekend of celebration. FREE.
